As part and parcel of our £1 million pound investment over the last 2 years; the final piece of the jigsaw was to install solar panels on the greenkeeper shed and driving range. Our energy costs have increased fourfold over the last couple of years. The sooner we can start generating some of our own energy the better.
This will have massive environmental benefits for the club. Apart from generating silently, producing pure clean energy; it will avoid about 15 tons of CO2 per year. Over its lifetime it will be the equivalent of planting about 2,500 trees / saving about 300 long haul flights.
The purchase of the solar panels was part funded by the UK Government through the Rural England Prosperity Fund in partnership with Wychavon District Council.
