Celebrating Ombersley Golf Club’s 25th Anniversary
As part of our 25th anniversary year we would like to very much thank our staff who have been pivotal in making Ombersley Golf Club what it is today.
In our team, which sometimes has up to 40 staff on the payroll, we are very lucky to have many long serving and dedicated members of staff. Many of these people have spent much or all of their working lifetimes with us and their continued efforts are reflected in the success of the club at every level.
Some staff do deserve a special mention on this specific occasion.
John and Pam Griffiths and Andrew Halfpenny all began on our farms before The Glebe Farm became Ombersley Golf Club. John devoting his working life of over 50 years to the business with the latter half of his career as a green keeper. Pam and Andrew have each been with us for approximately 40 years with each being well known to you all in their respective roles as Society Manager and Course Manager.
Dave Symonds, who has just retired, began with us 26 years ago in 1990 at the outset of this venture and is the engineer who has maintained all of our green keeping equipment. Another long serving green keeper is Bill Oakey who has been with us 17 years.
Graham Glenister joined us as Head Professional in 1991 when the course opened along with his wife Sue and after 25 years they continue to be the core of the golf shop.
Other staff such as Emma Perkins and Rob Isaacs in the bar, who have served 17 years and 13 years respectively, have also made their mark during their time here so far.
It would be very easy for me to write at length on the merits of each of these individuals as well as extending this list in noting the others not mentioned here but to whom we are equally grateful.
The level of support from the staff has proven to be the bedrock of our success and on behalf of the Directors I would like to thank each and every one of you,
With much appreciation, Rob Dowty
