• 2nd Greenkeeping Diary by Andrew Halfpenny

    • We start the second half of the month with milder weather. This has given us the opportunity to get  out and do some much needed golf course maintenance.

Jake has mown the greens. Due to the weather, they  hadn’t been cut since the 22nd of December. That’s 24 days. Lots of grass on them for the time of year. They already need their next cut!

Luke followed Jake with the sprayer applying a monthly maintenance spray, with fungicide to treat the snow mould.

      Nigel has mown the Tees

      Johnnie has mown fairways.

Even I got out on a mower, to help the lads out.

Then on the 22nd its back to frost and more snow on the 24th, another 4 inches. This gave us the opportunity to start and give the trees a good pruning.

This unsettled month continued on the 27th the temperature rose, thawing the snow out. Going from -7 on Monday  25th  to +10 by the middle of the week. Literally tropical.
