Make your golf better TODAY!!!! Ombersley Ladies' Newsletter April 2008 No ladies it was not a joke it was actually Sally's **birthday on April 1st. Happy Birthday Sally! Each Wednesday morning Mark Slater has lessons for ladies new to golf. On the last Wednesday in March Sandra our captain went to Mark's morning and had a chat with the ladies about some of the things that go on in the ladies section. Sandra enjoyed this immensely and hopes to be able to continue these visits. At the end of last month one of our ladies passed her PGA rules course. We would like to congratulate Yvette Nunn on her success. Joyce Duncan was the winner of this month's Bar St. Martin competition with 42 points. Liz Edmonds came 2nd with 41 points. Well done to both. Monday April 14th saw the start of the ladies' 13 hole competition and this month's winners were Pauline Bryant (net 50) and Gilly Prince ( net 51) We play this competition throughout the Summer. The Senior Spring Classic was played on Monday April 21st and Ineka Stevenson was winner of the 65's and over and Pauline Bryant won the 55+ Our ladies won against The Abbey G.C. on Wednsday April 9th, winning 2 and 1. These matches are always enjoyable and played in a nice spirit. On Thursday 17th the match v. Henley was cancelled due to a water logged course. This match has been re arranged for Thursday July 24th. Sunday 20th a mixed match v. The Vale. We lost 4 1/2 - 3 1/2. This month saw our first foray in this year's Droitwich Inter Club League Playing Redditch at home was never going to be an easy first match, as they are the current holders of the DICL shield. Although we all lost both sides agreed it was a hard fought match and played in the best spirit. It has been suggested that during the winter months it would be nice if we could get together and do something different. It has been suggested that we could meet and have a meal, a book swap night, or something else of interest. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Let us know. March 23rd 6 ladies visited the jewellery quarter where Jules Bicknell showed us around her shop. We saw how jewellery is made and what hard work it is for the crafts men. The skill employed is hard to believe and we were told how few crafts men are coming into the trade these days. Some of us actually got to hold a diamond worth £51,000! We would like to thank Jules for the time she and her staff gave to us. The Fun Day held on Saturday 26th was won by Lynne Craig, Janet Gore and Oliver Maiden. Well Done!
